In March more than 30 martial arts teachers and students gathered together to raise money for AMUR.  They completed over 100 rounds of sparring and raised over £1250 to help the Amur tigers and leoaprds. The event was organised by Ashley Eaglestone, chairman of Swindon Martial Arts, and involved practioners from Jujitsu Karate Kai, the Swindon Shikuki Karate Club, SMNF Kickboxing, LA Martial Arts, Swindon Muay Thai Kickboxing and the Amateur Kickboxing Academy.  It was a magnificent effort and fun for everyone involved.

ART COMPETITION

Moscow Anglo American School

May 09

 

On the 19th of May AMUR made the second presentation of «The Amur tiger in the wild» at the Anglo American School. The first part of event was devoted to reporting about veterinary work in the Russian Far East. Over 100 pupils and their teachers attended the presentation. The second part was a competition of the best drawings of tigers and leopards. 3 winners in each 5 classes were choosen.

Kevin Payne is cycling from the tip of Scotland to the end of England in a bid to raise money for AMUR.  This is not the first time Kevin has done something 'mad' for AMUR - last time he drove his fur covered car from Italy to UK!

Ilya Lagutenko and Alexander Vasilliev were guests of honour at an AMUR afternoon tea party to announce the launch of the new AMUR 485 Club.  The guests came dressed in tiger or leopard fashion and the best dressed guest was judged by the artistic director of Vogue Russia, Alica Melikova. Fund raising event at

Patrick Mavros Shop Fulham Road Chelsea

For 27 years the legendary artist Patrick Mavros has been producing silver sculptures in his studio from his workshops in Africa.  He has kindly created an amazing Amur tiger to help support AMUR with a large percentage of the revenue derived from its sale going to AMUR.

On May 28th Patrick Mavros in the Fulham Road London hosted a wonderful fundraising event for AMUR.

Joel Kirk is a renowned wildlife artist and has recently completed a new painting for AMUR of the Amur leopard.

AMUR fundraising GALA Evening MOSCOW

29th November 2006

 

AMUR Patron Ilya Lagutenko gave a wonderful concert for the tigers and leopards at an AMUR fund raising event in Moscow.   In addition the film Conflict Tiger (see below for details) was shown to guests.  The aim of the evening was to raise awareness of the terrible situation facing both leopards and tigers in the Russian Far East and to help raise much needed funds for the conservation work.

Film Evening in London June 5th 2006

CONFLICT TIGER, by Sasha Snow about Russian Amur tigers.

AMUR held a film evening showing the wonderful drama documentary,

Conflict Tiger, directed by Sasha Snow, whichhas received a 'special mention' at the TURIN film festival.  This film impressively tells the complex story of the difficulties encountered by men and animals when forced to share the same vital space. Beyond the film's specific focus, it also sheds light on some of the more general challenges faced by 21st-century civilization. The brilliant narrative is supported by skillful use of the camera.'  This moving film has won a number of awards this in 2006.

 

White Nights Bike Ride May 2005

The White Nights bike ride group of bike enthusiasts rode across Russia to raise money for charities led by Lord Fairfax. For the first part of the ride the group was joined by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent and visited a number of projects supported by AMUR. The White Nights Ride made a donation to AMUR towards conservation work which has gone towards firefighting work in the leopard territory.

Moscow Half Marathon (7th May 2005)

AMUR once again took part in the Moscow Half Marathon 7th May 2005. This race is now becoming a yearly tradition AMUR and we entered an International team of runners, with participants from Russia, England, France, Germany, Azerbijan. In their familiar orange t-shirt sponsored by Sunbury Heights the AMUR team stood out as they ran along the Moscow River. All the money raised by team will go towards the continuing Tiger and Leopard conservation efforts in the Far East.
